The Invitation

The gorgeous Big Bear Retreat Center, 3 hours east of LA, is perched on top of a great mountain, high above sea level. The Center spreads thru 1,000 acres of sprawling trails, massive, majestic trees, scenic valleys and vast, breath-taking views. In May, the mountains will delight with miraculous bloom. Lodging cabins are modern and spacious, with serene accommodations. Each cabin has a living room, several bedrooms, full kitchen and generous deck. Meals are freshly homemade, vegetarian, and delicious. The dinning room is wrapped by a stylish covered patio for outdoor eating, with spectacular mountain views everywhere. Inside, are the long tables our family loves. A big, bright yoga studio and meditation hall are both fully loaded with props and each features huge decks for outside practice. Imagine moving and meditating surrounded by tremendous trees, beneath a green, lace canopy of pines and wide open, epic skies.

Afterwards as the sun sets, we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner together, followed by an evening walk, and then a brief restorative practice to soothe you into sleep. On Tuesday and Wednesday we’ll begin the days with sunrise walks, pranayama breath work, breakfast, an invigorating practice, nourishing lunch and free time for napping, hanging, hiking, exploring the labyrinth or marinating in wilderness. Afternoon sessions will center on soft somatic practices, including walking meditation and forest bathing. Anticipate full days dedicated to luxuriously long yoga practices, learning age old wisdom, walking the earth, connecting and laughing with like-minded friends. Evenings dinner parties are for all kinds of conversation and sometimes even spontaneous dancing or singing. Thursday morning we depart after practice. Check out by noon. But you don’t have to rush home. Big Bear town is full of awesome hiking trails and cool local shops, plus the lake is right there and ready for all kinds of fun.
